Forest Friends
In March 2023, Forestpathways started the Forest Friends project focusing on welcoming refugees from Syria and Ukrainian into the woodlands. The initiative allowed for refugee children to attend sessions free from charge. The sessions are due to continue into 2024.
Forest school leader Francis Baring said, ‘We have had a wonderful experience with Forest Friends - the children coming from Ukraine and Syria have found their feet in the forest quickly. They have made new friends, learnt skills and taught us interesting things about their countries. We hope the experience has given them some comfort from the horrific experiences some have had to go through. We are very grateful for the opportunity to have them take part in our forest school.’
